Step 1
If congratulations are supported by a gift, then as soon as the donor finishes and gives you the gift, immediately say: "Thank you." In some cases, you can attach the donor's name.

Uncover the gift. Say “thank you” again, even if you don't really need or like the gift. If the giver is a close friend of yours, kiss him on the cheek.

If a congratulatory speech does not imply giving a gift, but requires a longer, detailed answer than in the first case, listen to the speaker. Then take the floor. Start your speech with “thank you,” “thank you,” or other synonyms. Describe the speaker in front of the audience: tell about the positive qualities that he showed in your presence, about interesting situations when the person helped you in a non-standard or unexpected way.
Step 4
Express your gratitude to the person for their affection for you. Note how happy you are to meet him. End your speech with the words you started with, "Thank you."
