How we rest for the New Year - 2016
In 2016, New Year's holidays in Russia will be celebrated from January 1 (Friday) to January 10 (Sunday). In accordance with labor law, dates from January 1 to January 8 are non-working days associated with the celebration of the New Year and Christmas, and January 9 and 10 fall on Saturday and Sunday.
The days off on January 2 and 3, which fall on the New Year holidays, in accordance with the resolution of the Ministry of Labor in 2016 will not be "added" to the winter holidays - they are postponed to March and May.
Thursday, December 31, in accordance with labor law, is a pre-holiday working day - the length of the working day is reduced by one hour.
Weekend on February 23rd 2016
Defender of the Fatherland Day, celebrated on February 23 in 2016, falls on Tuesday. In honor of this holiday, Russia will rest for three days in a row - starting from Sunday (February 21) and ending on 23.
But on the other hand, Saturday February 20 will be a working day - the Russians will work it "for Monday" so that the weekend on February 23 is uninterrupted. This working day will also be shortened.
How will we rest on March 8
Celebrations of International Women's Day in 2016 will be extended - four days of rest in a row. March 8 in 2016 falls on Tuesday, and the day off from Sunday January 3 has been postponed to March 7. So, in the end, the four-day March holidays are formed as follows:
- March 5 - Saturday, day off,
- March 6 - Sunday, day off,
- March 7 - Monday, day off (transfer from Sunday January 3),
- March 8 - Tuesday, public holiday.
May holidays - 2016
May 2016 will be full of non-working days - on the "first May", the Russians will rest for 4 days in a row, the Victory Day celebrations will last for three days.
Spring and Labor Day, a public holiday on May 1 this year falls on Sunday. In accordance with Russian law, in this case, the day off is automatically transferred to the next Monday after the holiday Sunday, May 2. And on the third of May, the day off was postponed from Saturday, January 2. In total, on May 1, 2016, there will be four non-working days in a row in Russia at once.
The schedule for transferring weekends to May 1 looks like this:
- April 30 - Saturday, day off,
- May 1 - Sunday, public holiday,
- May 2 - Monday, day off (transfer from Sunday May 1),
- May 3 - Tuesday, day off (rescheduled from Saturday, January 3).
May 9, 2016 Victory Day falls on Monday. Therefore, in Russia, in honor of this holiday, they will rest for three days in a row - Saturday and Sunday on May 7 and 8, and the following holiday. No postponement of the weekend for May 9 is provided.
How we will rest in June and November 2016
Day of Russia, celebrated on June 12, will also be marked by a three-day vacation. The holiday falls on Sunday, so the day off will be postponed to Monday, June 13 and "added" to Saturday and Sunday, so the dates of the rest in June 2016 are from the 11th to the 13th.
National Unity Day is celebrated on November 4. In 2016, it will be Friday. Therefore, no postponements of holidays are expected, the holiday will simply turn into weekends - in total, they will rest in Russia from November 4 to 6, and the working day on Thursday November 3 will be shortened.
