Step 1
Come out caroling on Christmas night from January 6-7. Previously, carols were celebrated according to the old calendar style on the night of December 24-25. But after the Baptism of Rus in 988, the preachers, finding a compromise, combined the pagan holiday of Kolyada with the Orthodox Christmas, during which they now sing carols.
Step 2
Gather a group of at least three or more people. He will notify with a bell that carolers are approaching the house. The third main person in the group of carolers is a mekhonosha, a person who will carry a bright, beautiful bag with gifts.
Step 3
Walk along the streets of villages and cities, singing carols, and approaching the doors or windows of houses and apartments, sing songs of praise in honor of the owners of the house. In response to your greeting, they will put gifts (pies, candies, toys) in your bag. And you follow further, delighting other celebrating people with your chants.
