The long-awaited concert of Madonna took place on August 8 in Moscow, it took place in the Olimpiyskiy concert hall and was timed to coincide with the release of the singer’s new album “M. D. N. A.”. This concert was awaited not only by fans of the pop diva, but also by those who disagree with her in convictions - she is known for her struggle for a tolerant attitude towards people of any sexual orientation.
Viewers who bought tickets for the concert were confident that Madonna would not pass over in silence the burning topic of Pussy Riot, a punk band whose members were awaiting a conviction at the time. At her performances that have already taken place abroad, the singer appeared on stage with the name of this group, written on her bare back, thereby expressing support for the participants, whose hooligan trick in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, contrary to the law, was re-qualified as a criminal offense.
The concert began three hours late, so the audience was already pretty tired, although they were entertained by the Swedish DJ Alesso for an hour and a half. The technical pause that lasted for a while was used by the audience with great benefit: they did not loudly express their indignation, but preferred to meet those who are sitting in neighboring places and spend time getting to know each other, treating each other to whiskey from the flasks they brought with them. Madonna's performance began in an already warmed-up atmosphere.
The first song was "The Prayer Overture: Act of Contrition". At the same time, the musical row was accompanied by a video broadcast on a large screen with increased image clarity. After performing a few more songs, Madonna stopped the show and began a conversation with the audience. In her speech, she emphasized that many people of different nationalities, religions and sexual preferences work in her team. Despite the difference in views, they are one family and do a common cause, having only one, but the main thing in common - they are all people.
This was followed by the expected words of support for the girls from Pussy Riot and asked the audience's opinion, do the members of the group have the right to be free? Loud "Yes!" was the answer to this appeal. The concert continued with a number in which the singer performed a song with a bare back, on which was written "Pussy Riot". In total, the performance lasted two hours, it was full of music, magnificent color and light effects, dance numbers. Madonna has once again demonstrated that it is too early to write her off.
